Update on an Update Before The Update

Sex Bird.

Alright, here's an update on what's going on.

Right now, I'm getting a small update ready to release. I'm having it tested on the Discord server right now. There's no major content update yet, but there are too many bug fixes and features added to list. Requests have been re-added and are working fine, statistics have been fixed, and a bunch of missing CGs have been added in, just to name a few things that have been added. It's been so long since that last actual content update that I'm mainly putting this one together just to make sure that everything still works like it should.

Right now, people on the Discord are finding a ton of issues that I'm fixing. Once the bug reports stop coming in, I'll post it publicly here. After that, it's finishing up the last part 3 update. And then onto Part 4. I'm still a long way from fixing the developmental Hindenburg I've created here. But I'm making progress with it.

More to come soon.

Also, Blogspot's acting up and I can't seem to update the sidebars. But people were saying the Discord link was broken, so here's one that isn't (hopefully): https://discord.gg/unvMCG6Qk

I don't like Blogspot very much.

Crop for a new CG

So it's been...a little bit of time since I posted anything here. I have been posting more frequent progress updates on the Discord server. But I know a lot of people don't like using Discord in general. And besides that, my server's...special, anyway. Blogspot at this point does feel pretty outdated, and I never really was a huge fan of it to begin with, but that's really no excuse. I kept telling myself I'd just make another Blogspot post when the update was done and then I could surprise everyone, but it's just not worth it. So I'll just talk about what's happening right now.

I had a longer post planned going into a little more detail about why it's taken so long. But honestly, I don't think anyone's interested in reading about that. Another time, maybe. But not now. Instead I'll just say, I'm still working on the final update to Part 3, and obviously it's a big one. Here are some of the things you can expect from it.

  • The Monsterpedia. I've fixed up pretty much all the issues with it. Request scenes work again (for NG+ monsters, original monsters will be fixed too), I rewrote a lot of the code to work better in general. I also fixed a bunch of bugs and oversights with both the Monsterpedia and the Records page. Did you know losing to Granberia by getting beaten to a pulp in the original game counted as an orgasm according to the records page? I'm not even kidding.

  • H-scenes. There's a lot of them. There are scenes – literally dozens of them probably – that I've left unfinished for the longest time, or finished them and just never managed to implement them. I'm working on getting those added back in, as well. New CG, too.

  • Camp scenes. Basically the same as above. More of those, too.

  • Party members. There are a few more I plan to add in the next update, including a couple secret ones. Ipeia and Nibi are returning too, don't worry.

  • New areas. This is more Part 4 stuff than Part 3, but I do have a few new and unexplored areas planned, and new monsters to go with them. These will probably be in smaller subsequent updates (that hopefully won't take two fucking years to finish)

In other words, the last Part 3 update is probably going to be the biggest one so far, by quite a bit. It's still going to take some time to finish. I have to draw a bunch of CGs, code fights, write h-scenes, test everything to make sure it works, etc. But once it's ready, hopefully it'll have been worth waiting so long for. And hopefully the next updates won't take such an excruciatingly long time.

It's obvious I was waaaaaaaaaaay too ambitious with my plans when I started working on NG+. I basically wanted to make a game that was as big if not way bigger than the original game...as a high school kid with zero programming experience, writing experience, art experience, etc. Yeah, there was no way that was ever going to work. The only reason it wasn't completely canceled 7 years ago is because apparently, I'm the most stubborn moron that ever lived.

And on that note, I'm still going ahead with the original plan. Nothing's changed with that. Still six parts, still an absurd amount of content. I've gone too far with it to go back on it now, so I'm just gonna keep working on it when I can.

TL;DR FINAL PART 3 UPDATE SOON PLEASE BE PATIENT.

Update on the Next Update (Last Part 3 Update)

Soon.

I've been pretty busy lately, and I keep forgetting to make a blog post about the next update, so here it is.

The next update will be the last one for Part 3. It will have the final area, plus everything else I still need to add. Obviously, this is going to be the biggest update I've released so far, so it might still take some time before it's ready. I'll make another blog post once it's almost finished before I post it for real.

I know it's taken way, WAY too long to finish Part 3, and I can only apologize for that. Hopefully the long wait will be worth it, and the game will be better for all the time it took. There are still 3 parts to go after this, so the ride's only starting either way.

More to come soon.

Monster Girl Quest NG+ Part 3 Demo Update (v. 9-1-2020)

Just an innocent drawing of Vampire Girl.

The new update is finished. Sorry for the wait. Technically, this new area is supposed to be a secret, but here it is, anyway.

Link is here, just extract on top of an MGQ install and it's ready to go. https://mega.nz/file/40wDSCTA#3T11e4fEmtcrIIAHpV2MmNhmHP_GZpnnWaUmAmIUzAM

Latest patch is here. Install on top of the Update in the link above. http://www.mediafire.com/file/3cbddq8wovejbjn/Monster+Girl+Quest+NG++Part+3+Demo+Patch+(v.+9-7-2020).zip/file

The next update won't be a specific area, but rather adding Ipeia and Nibi back into the game, putting in their dialogue, and other camp scenes that need to be finished.

That's all for now.

Update on the Updates

A perfectly wholesome and SFW drawing of Salamander.

An update on the updates.

I've been working on a few extra things for part 3 that I haven't had the chance to finish yet. A few secret routes you can unlock, some h-scenes, some camp scenes, the party members. etc. Here's what I have planned for the next three updates.

Update 1: The secret routes (new locations included). I know it seems counter-intuitive to release an update and not tell you what's going to be in it, but you'll find out soon enough. Or just check the Discord if you want to spoil yourself, since I've been releasing test builds for it almost daily.

Update 2: Party member update. This will bring back the Harpy and Kitsune, as well as add one or two new party members. I'll also be implementing a lot of camp scenes (h or not) with this update. And once that's all taken care of...

Update 3: The final area of Part 3. With this update, Part 3 will be completed.

That's all for now. More to come Soonish.

I also have a Fanbox page now (Pixiv's version of Patreon). It's mostly just for my art, but it has a few exclusive drawings on there right now for the 100JPY (0.90-0.93 USD) tiers and up, with more to come. If you're interested, the link is here. https://www.pixiv.net/fanbox/creator/4907258

Monster Girl Quest NG+ Part 3 Demo Update (v. 12-25-2019)

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/466066790469074954/659333222903316495/Mandy_Christmas.png
It's cold. Very cold.

Merry Christmas, everybody. Here's an update. This update adds the Northern Sea location, so you can go and get the Silver Orb now.

Get the update here (https://www.mediafire.com/file/n8vvlmicx3ilycd), then extract to your MGQ Parts 1-3 directory.

In the next few months, I'll be posting smaller updates to the existing locations that flesh them out a bit more. I'll be adding more dialogue, a couple fights, new camp scenes, new H-scenes, and so on.

That's all for now. Have fun.

EDIT: I've also gone ahead and created a Fanbox page. It's basically Pixiv's equivalent of Patreon. If you're interested in using it, you can. But you won't be missing anything if you don't donate. https://www.pixiv.net/fanbox/creator/4907258https://www.mediafire.com/file/p8wt5wewh75iw9o/Monster_Girl_Quest_NG+_Part_3_Demo_Update_%28v._12-25-2019%29_.zip/filehttps://www.mediafire.com/file/p8wt5wewh75iw9o/Monster_Girl_Quest_NG+_Part_3_Demo_Update_%28v._12-25-2019%29_.zip/file

Update on the Update (Northern Sea)

https://i.gyazo.com/57ea18a26087df7644c9b896874438b3.png
Sorry.

As the image and caption said, I'm sorry I didn't make a post sooner. The last few months have been a little messy for me and the Blogspot page simply slipped my mind. The Discord server is still very active, but I forget that a lot of people aren't using that, so I tend to forget to actually update the Blogspot page.

Anyway, I'm planning to release the Northern Sea update this month. It's not that big of an update, but with it, you'll be able to finally get all six orbs for the Garuda Girl. In the next few months after the Northern Sea Update, I'm planning to release smaller content updates that have things like H-scenes, extra fights, extra story branches, etc. There's a lot of half-finished content that I've been sitting on for months to literal years at this point that would flesh out the game more, and I want to finally get it finished up and implemented. After that, the next update (and the last one for Part 3) will be

Well, you'll see where it is when we get to that.

I'll make a post later this month when the update is ready. I hope you enjoy it. Sorry for the long waits, as always.

Info on the next update (Northern Sea)

When you can't even make a new blog post on schedule.

Hi. I mentioned in a comment on the update post that I would make a new post about the next update in a few days. So here it is.

The next update will be primarily for the Northern Sea, where the Poseidoness and Silver Orb are. Since this is the last "Orb" area that isn't finished, this means that Part 3 is almost done (f i n a l l y). After that, the remaining areas in Sentora will be finished, and then it's onto Hellgondo. No release date yet, but it's already being worked on.

That's all for now.

NG+ News and MGQ Remaster

Just a Valkyrie. Nothing unusual here.

Seven months without a post. I know that's an outrageously long amount of time, and I can only apologize for that.

The reason I haven't posted in so long is because I didn't want to make a new post that didn't have an update released. I realize now that that was an incredibly stupid thing to do, but it wouldn't be the first stupid decision I've made with NG+, so bear with me here.

As for what's going on with NG+ right now, the Colosseum update's been in a state of "basically done" for awhile now, but I keep pushing it back to either add new content or polish up what's already there. As it stands now, it's probably the single biggest update I've made for NG+ up to this point, so hopefully that gets you a little excited for what's coming. Personally, I don't think anything I release at this point will justify waiting so long for it, but hopefully you'll have fun with it regardless. I'm hoping to have it ready fairly soon, but I don't want to jinx it, so I'll just say it's still "in progress". As always, test builds are posted on the Discord server, if you want to see what's being worked on and tested at the moment and don't want to wait.

But there is something else you can play in the meantime.

A few months ago, I was throwing around a few ideas on the Discord server about the possibility of releasing an "HD" upscaled version of the original Monster Girl Quest. It's an idea that's been rattling around in my head for years, and I even made a mockup of the NG+ title screen in 1080p once to see how it could theoretically work. At first, I assumed that such a thing would be impossible, or at the very least, far more trouble than it's actually worth. Not only would you have to upscale over 5000 individual images, but everything in the game is hardcoded for an 800x600 resolution, so you would have to change that, too. It didn't seem feasible, at first. But the more I sat down and thought about how it could be done, the more I realized that it wasn't nearly as difficult as I first thought.

Then, a couple of people in the Discord server (including Sore Eyes, the creator of the Fan Demo), ended up actually making it into a real thing. There is now a "remastered" version of MGQ that you can play in either 960x720 or 1440x1080. Every image has been upscaled with waifu2x, the game now runs in Onscripter, and many, many bugs and typos from the original game have been fixed (there were a ton). You can download and play that by using the links in here.

https://pastebin.com/7Q1QRZ27

In addition to fixes, there are two new features available in the remaster from the Special Config menu.

- Ability to skip story H-scenes in addition to fight H-scenes.
- Optional spirit turn counters and resummons like NG+

And a few more new features on top of that.

All credit goes to Sore Eyes and lugia19. All I did was prove it could be done.

That's all for now. Colosseum Soon™.

More Colosseum Information

This is the only remotely SFW crop of this picture I can make.

I thought I should give an update on the Colosseum's progress.

It's still going to take some time, but there's a reason for that. It's probably the biggest single update NG+ has had so far. There are four new fights in this update, and each one has its own H-scene with new CG. Chrome's Mansion is also getting a new h-scene  and two new CGs (left unfinished in the last update). In addition to that, there will be quite a few new camp scenes added for the party members, as well (many of those will also be H-scenes).

Because of that, I've been spending most of my time recently getting new CGs drawn for this update. There are 4 new CGs from me (one being the Alma Elma above), and at least 4 from jiffic.

Since it's a bigger update than usual, it's taking some time to get everything ready. But it is progressing, and should hopefully be finished either this month or next month.

That's all for now.

Info on next update

Can't go wrong with a cute Tamamo.

Quick post about what's happening next.

First thing. You probably already figured this out because I'm awful at keeping release builds and test builds separated, but the next area is Grand Noah and the Colosseum. I accidentally left it accessible in a release build when I was fixing other bugs. But it's gone now. That will hopefully be ready to release either in September or October.

Next thing, I've started (attempting to) uncensor the original game's CGs for the major characters in the game (knights, spirits, etc.). I'm not doing anything fancy, just removing the mosaic censoring. I didn't bother with anything like that before because I didn't think people really cared about that sort of thing. Turns out they do care. A lot. So you can look forward to some uncensored CGs in the next update, too.

That's all for now.

Monster Girl Quest NG+ Part 3 Demo Update (v. 7-20-2018)

Cute little Chrome to grab your attention

So I had this long, elaborate 10 minute Youtube video planned called "Where's Chrome?" where I whine about how hard it is to make a porn game mod when I stream 18 hours a day...

...But then I remembered that I actually worked on my porn game mod, so Chrome's actually right here. I also don't stream games at all, so I have no idea what I was thinking there.

Okay, seriously now. I'm sorry about the delay. This was supposed to be out a few weeks ago, but I always underestimate how much work I have left before I have something "releasable". That's my own fault, of course. Still, thanks for being so patient during the last few months.

http://www.mediafire.com/file/82mkte2fr1aky6l

This new update contains Chrome's Mansion as a new location, as well as a new party member added (no prizes for guessing who it is). Many, many bugs and typos have been fixed since the last update as well (thanks, Sore Eyes), so it should be an improvement all around.

If you find any bugs, let me know in the comments or on Discord, and I'll try to fix them as soon as I can. I'll have more info on the next update soon. Until then, have fun.

Also, a new Paypal link is up, if you're interested in that. https://paypal.me/MGQNGPlus

Update on the update

Sketch for a new CG

Just making a quick post to explain what's going on.

The next update's coming along fairly smoothly and should be ready in 2-3 weeks. I'll try to have it ready by the end of the month, but it's not a 100% guarantee. It'll have Chrome's Mansion, along with a new party member, a lot of bug fixes, some performance improvements and new h-scenes.

That's all for now.

New Patch (Monsterpedia Features) and what's coming in May

Left-Right arrows and a Random button

A new patch has been released. This patch has various changes to the Monsterpedia. Someone on the Discord suggested I add a few features to make the Monsterpedia nicer to use. They seemed like good ideas, so I went ahead and implemented them.

- Left and Right arrows have been added (top right corner) so you can quickly flip between entries without going back out to the menu again.
- A Random button (the ? button in the middle) has been added. When you click it, it'll take you to a random entry that you've unlocked.
- Fixed the bad placement of the "Info Data Pose CG Recall" text. It's actually inside the page now.
- Fixed a few random bugs and errors within the NG+ Monsterpedia entries.

As for what the next area will be, it was going to be Grand Noah. But I decided to do Chrome's Mansion first, instead. So that'll be the next big update, which will hopefully be out in May. Colosseum will be after that.

That's all.

New Patch (Screen Zoom Fix)

A new patch has been released (3/31).

(Now with 99% less Maccubus)

Full Download: http://www.mediafire.com/file/hqpub4s5zppplee/
Patch Only: http://www.mediafire.com/file/cwcw1dn6m5jr0dd

A lot of people were reporting a strange bug where the screen starts up zoomed in. I'm not sure what causes that bug, but the latest patch seems to fix it for whatever reason. The CG for Astaroth's H-scene has also been finished, and has been added to the game.

That's all. Also Chrome's Mansion is next.

Monster Girl Quest NG+ Part 3 Demo Update (v. 3-25-2018)

Sketch for a new CG

Latest Release (591MB, use if you don't have 3/7 Update): http://www.mediafire.com/file/2jwwmynqxq2vk16/

Latest Patch (3MB, use if you have 3/7 Update or later): http://www.mediafire.com/file/o4i7uzi37kyv9gu/Monster_Girl_Quest_NG%2B_Part_3_Demo_Patch_%28v._3-25-2018%29.zip

A new update has been released for NG+. Here are the major changes.

- You can now play through part 3 without a knight.
- Three new h-scenes have been added since the 3/7 update.
- You can now keep your saves between patches without everything break, but only if you save on the World Map before installing a new patch.
- Numerous bug fixes
- Numerous typo corrections.

It's not that big an update, but I made a blog post about it for a reason. It is highly recommended that you download this update if you've downloaded any of the updates between 3/7 and now. Because if you don't, you might get some strange issues. I left debug mode on by mistake in Part 1 and 2. Bully me all you want. I deserve it.

Saving between patches

Ilias sprite with a better face

So with the frequent patches and updates in the last week, a lot of people have been having issues with saves getting screwed up between patches. The issue has to do with how nscript actually handles saves. It saves the exact line in the game's script that you're on (it treats 0.txt to 13.txt as one script). So if you save on line 3694 and you reload the game, you'll reload on line 3694, no matter what that line actually is. So when there are a lot of different patches getting released, the script keeps getting shuffled around slightly. This is what's ultimately causing the saves to break between patches.

I did find a solution to this. If I have small "save areas" located at the top of the script, you can save in those areas and your saves will work between patches. As long as the top of the script doesn't change between patches, your saves will be fine. Originally, I just had save areas between each part. I tested them, and they work just fine. But what I can do is add a few more of these scattered throughout each part, so you'll be able to save in part 3 without worrying about patches breaking them and making you start over.

To put it more simply, I can make save locations that will still work between patches. The question is, where do you want these saves to be? I can put them at the end of each area, and I can also make it so saving on the world map is safe. Would that be a good solution? I can't directly change how saving works in nscript, but this could work as a workaround.

If you have any other ideas of where I can put save locations like this, let me know. Note that this only affects saves between patches. If you don't patch NG+ constantly, then you can save anywhere unless I outright disabled it (ex: battles, towns).

Monster Girl Quest NG+ Part 3 Demo Update (v. 3-7-2018)

Get the update here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/kgcduenz84m92am
The new areas are Gold Port and the pirate ship.

Two other things.

From now on, I'm probably just gonna release the updates one area at a time, rather than focusing on everything at once. This way, the updates will be more consistent from now. The next area should be ready fairly soon, since I'm going to have much more free time to work on NG+ soon.

Related to that, some people have been asking me for awhile if I take donations, or if I ever would. I said I wouldn't do it until I knew I would be able to work on NG+ consistently. Well, now most of my other obligations are going to be cleared up soon, so I should have more time to work on it now. So I decided to open a Paypal.

If you really want to donate money, you can do it here. Whatever amount you would choose to give, I would be grateful. https://www.paypal.me/EcstasyWasTaken

Of course, if I'm going to be accepting donations, that means I have more of an obligation to release updates frequently. I don't want to rip people off. unlike certain other developers So there won't be any year-long waits between NG+ updates now. I'm going to aim for having a new area finished and released at least once every two months. And for this release, at least, I'm going to be adding small content updates to it in the next few patches. Camp scenes, some UI fixes, and obviously fixes to any bugs that are found.

Also, if you do decide to use the Paypal link, you should know that it'll show the first and last names linked to your account, and I can see that. Obviously I'm not gonna do anything with that information, but I know people would prefer to stay anonymous with things like this. Just keep that in mind.

That's all. Enjoy the new area.

Quick note about the Discord server

Concerned Sylph to get your attention.

I guess some people aren't really familiar with how Discord works. I probably should have posted about this sooner.

You're supposed to download the Discord program, and then click the invite link. Once you do that, you just use the program to stay in the server. If you don't want to download anything, use discordapp.com. You aren't meant to click the invite link every single time you want to check the server. It's not like Mibbit.

Some people have been clicking it over and over again, and now they have over a dozen duplicate accounts on the server. Please don't do that. A couple people were banned for making duplicates every day, but I unbanned them now. If the Discord invite link wasn't working for you, that's probably why. It should work now.

That's all. Demo Still Soon™.

Also, if you make 15 Discord accounts on purpose now to annoy me, I'll just ban you. So don't do that, either.
