For December

https://my.mixtape.moe/cpbsza.png
 A very unfitting Sylph picture.

Well, I had hoped that I would have good news to post about, but I really don't. I said that I wanted to have part 3 done by December, and it was on track during the Summer. But of course, that didn't work out. I got really busy in the Fall, and couldn't work on it as much as I had hoped. So it's not quite finished yet.

But I did say I would try to have something released in December. So once the semester is over (two weeks), I'm gonna be spending the rest of December getting what's done ready to release. It's not as much as I wanted, but it's still a decently-sized update. I'll try to have it done in December, but it might not be out until January.

I know it's frustrating, and I really don't mean to keep blue-balling everyone like this. But everything always seems to get really busy when I really don't want it to. It's unfortunate, but I'll try to have something out soon.

That's all. Sorry the news isn't better.

Fight Scripting

Just an Eden picture.

Sorry for the lack of update in August. I honestly just forgot to post something and didn't really have much to talk about.

Anyway, I do have some more good news.

The guy who made the wordwrap patch (Hiroku) is now working on tools to make development easier. Specifically, a program that I can use to help create scripts for fights.

Coding the fights is by far the most frustrating part of making NG+, and the fights are usually the buggiest parts of the game. Up until this point, I've had to make and edit the scripts in Notepad++, which is absolutely terrible. A lot of the process could easily be automated (since it's just copypasted code that every fight uses), which is what this new program is doing for me. Once it's finished, making NG+ fights should be much quicker and easier, which should hopefully speed up development by quite a bit.

That's all for now. I'm still working on town segments at the moment.

Saving

Completely innocent picture of IF to grab your attention. Has nothing to do with NG+ whatsoever.

 So about saving...

A constant problem with NG+ has been keeping your saves between different builds of the game, and especially between different parts. A lot of you have probably had this problem at some point, where you try to load a save on a different build, and you end up somewhere completely different. I think I've finally come up with a solution, but only for keeping your saves between different parts.

I'm going to release a patch soon that implements the fix, along with a few other touch-ups (namely replacing Queen Harpy's horrible nude sprites). Basically, at the end of part 2, you'll receive this prompt to save. As long as you save here, your save should work when part 3 comes out.

The downside to this, obviously, is that all saves made prior to the next patch probably won't work. But every save made from the next patch onward will work. It's not ideal, but I wanted to get this whole mess with saving dealt with before part 3 comes out. Replaying part 1 and part 2 isn't nearly as time-consuming as replaying part 3, so it's better to sort it out now.

That's all. Patch coming soon.

The picture of the save prompt, which is actually important but not attention-grabbing in the slightest.

New post.

Just an Ilias CG.

It's been about a month, so I figured I should make a post.

Progress is moving along at a fairly steady pace. I've gotten some CG done, some h-scenes, some fights, etc. I've been posting test builds every weekend on the Discord server that have what I've finished. If you're interested in those, then you can go there from the link on the taskbar. The builds do contain spoilers, though. So don't play them if that bothers you.

That's all. Everything's still on track at the moment.

New Patch (Monsterpedia Fixes)

This will never happen again.

 Some more good news.

I've gone through and fixed the bugs that were in the Monsterpedia. The game no longer implodes when you try to go back to the Extras menu (like in the screenshot). It was actually Daystar that was causing the problem. If you used Daystar during any Recall fight in the Monsterpedia, the game would break when you tried to leave. But that shouldn't be happening anymore.

If anyone's interested, I can go into more detail of what the actual issue was and how I fixed it. The bug itself and the fix for it are both equally ridiculous, and just go to show how bizarre nscript is. But the important thing is, it works now.

Thanks to the people who let me know about the bug and helped me test the fixes.

Another new monster (hasn't been shaded yet)

First off, the Undine bug has been fixed. Sorry for the delay, I thought it was already fixed in the last patch. You can get that here. https://www.mediafire.com/?2s253d3nge73m4d

Now, I did say I would post when to expect the game to be ready in a few weeks. I'm planning to have Part 3 completed this year. If I don't have it ready to go by then, I'm probably just going to release what I have and then release what's left within the next few months. So expect a new release in December.

If you haven't guessed already, Part 3 is much, much bigger than the other two. If I had to give a rough estimate, it's at least 5 times bigger than Parts 1 and 2 put together.

A lot of people are probably wondering why it's taken so long. There were a lot of problems that came up, both with the game itself and in my life. I don't want to talk about it any more than that, because it'll seem like I'm just making up excuses, and I don't think anyone's interested in reading that.

That's it for now.

Good news? I think.

I didn't have time to draw something new, so here's a crop of an Ilias picture my friend sent me.

New post.

I know I've been pretty much dead these last few weeks, and I can only apologize for that. I was just really busy and didn't have free time for anything.

But that's over now. So I'm going to be working on NG+ much more within the next few months. CGs, h-scenes, battles, etc. Things should go relatively smoothly for the foreseeable future. I'll go through and reply to any unanswered questions on the last blog post as soon as I post this.

Anyway, there's another problem that needs to be dealt with. People keep reporting that they're getting a bug where Undine disappears from their skill list after they obtain her in part 2. The problem is, this bug should be fixed in the latest build (8/1). I'm going to go through and test it one more time, but it should be okay. If you are experiencing the bug and you aren't running the latest build of NG+, please download the 8/1 patch and apply it to your game. This will hopefully fix the problem.

In the future, if you need to report a bug, please say what version of the game you're playing (the date of the build should be on the window when you open the game up, so the latest would be 8/1/2016). This will help me keep track of what's been fixed and what still needs to be fixed. Unfortunately, I can't set it up so the game automatically updates, so everyone will be running a potentially different build.

That's it for now.
